Road Use for Special Event Permit Overview

The following are requirements that will need to be submitted on the next page of this application:

• A sketch or map noting:

  • North arrow
  • All road names and intersections
  • Location of event
  • Route of event
  • Detour route if there is a road closure
    
    
• A copy of Certificate of General Liability Insurance ($5 million) covering the event and naming the Corporation of the County of Northumberland as additional insured. The certificate shall also certify that the policy provides that a minimum of 30 days notice must be given to the Corporation prior to any alteration, revocation or termination of the said policy.  Our legal name and address must appear on the certificate in this manner:

• Name, phone and email address of Police Representative.  You will be asked to confirm on the application that you have advised the Police Representative of the event.
• Name, phone and email address of contact(s) providing Traffic Control Signage and Detour Route.
• Name, phone and email address of municipal contact(s) for event. 

Please note:

• Permit application and supporting documents must be received at least 30 business days prior to the scheduled special event/filming.
• Every applicant to whom a permit has been issued shall ensure that access for emergency vehicles is available at any and all times.
• As per County policy, any signage larger than a roadside sandwich-board promoting and/or advertising for this event, either temporary or permanent, will need to adhere to the County’s setback requirements and will require a setback application. Small sandwich-boards placed on the shoulder of the roadway are permitted, however these need to be taken in at the end of each day and are not to remain on the side of the County Road.  If you wish to put up temporary signage along any County road prior to the event, please reach out to us prior to placing.
• No overflow parking is permitted along the shoulder or travelled portion of the County Road that abuts the event.
